PJM begins testing Plasser Tamping Machine
Gerriko's transport technology partner, PJ Messtechnik GmbH have been commissioned by Plasser & Theurer GmbH to test a Tamper
Machine vehicle destined for Irish Rail. This involves the set-up of sensors and data loggers on the vehicle to help fulfil the
combination of static and dynamic test requirements along the Irish Rail network.

[APRIL 2009]
Gerriko introduces new PJM LN Accelerometers, which are ideal for extreme operating conditions
These low noise Accelerometers can be used in zero to medium frequency (4,000Hz) instrumentation applications. Due to its
internal temperature sensor it is relatively insensitive to temperature changes. The sensors do not exhibit any
over-modulation by temporary observed high-frequency excitations and are useful in running gear tests, measuring
service load factors and monitoring seismic activity, making these sensors particularly well suited for plant & machinery
fatigue assessments, railway measurements and building structures / infrastructure vibration monitoring.
For example, in Austria, these sensors are often used to provide continuous monitoring of all adjacent structures
during any major piling or tunnelling excavation activity in urban environments. This is to protect assets and to give
people advanced warning of potential catastrophic events. Continuous monitoring of adjacent structures also helps
minimise claims.
We are reminded of these perils by the recent news that in Cologne Germany, a sinkhole (caused by the collapse of a
subway tunnel excavation underneath) destroyed the Historical Archive building. People inside the building only
realised something was wrong when sounds of structural buckling were heard.

[JANUARY 2009]
Gerriko teams up with Austrian Company (PJ Messtechnik) to offer the Irish & UK transport market specialised Infrastructure Analytics capability
PJ Messtechnik offer specialised professional solutions for all tasks in the field of mechanical engineering and have
also developed a range of hermetically sealed capacitive accelerometers, which are particularly suitable for the extreme operating
conditions within the measurements on rail vehicles. Gerriko will act as PJ Messtechnik's local representative in Ireland and the
UK.
